With reference to our letter of 9th September, No.A/474,

regarding the securities deposited with us on account of the note

issue of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in Hong

Kong and the Straits Settlements, I have the honour to report for

the information of the Secretary of State that we have released

£342,000. 4% Treasury Bonds 1931/33 and £375,000. 31% Conversion

Loan Bonds 1961 or after to the Bank and have received in

exchange £500,000. 4% Funding Loan Bonds 1960/90 and £200,000.

5% War Loan Bonds.
